<Winkie> hey guys, i'm having an issue that a few of the graphs on some of my hosts don't seem to be being generated, i might not have rrdtool installed or something like that [07:13]
<Winkie> is this a known problem? [07:13]
<RangerRick> are you using 1.5.90? if so, it defaults to using jrobin, not rrdtool; it doesn't require any external apps [07:14]
<Winkie> i'm using the latest from the opennms repository for debian stable [07:18]
<Winkie> yeah 1.5.90 [07:18]
<Winkie> i'm not sure which logfile to check, but yeah some of the graphs simply don't work [07:19]
<RangerRick> well, it's hard to say without knowing which graphs, whether you have associated rrds, etc. but first woudl be to check for ERROR, FATAL, or Exception in the logs [07:21]
<RangerRick> djgregor: out of curiosity, why post that stuff to a lisppaste instead of just comitting it? [07:22]

<mrheckman> Good morning. I'm having a problem with false outages in OpenNMS. I am able to ping the node interface using the instructions at http://www.opennms.org/index.php/Using_jicmp_from_the_command_line. However, the ICMP service on that interface is shown as down. Is there anybody available to help me troubleshoot this problem? [11:16]

<_snd> what version? [11:52]
<mrheckman> I was having the problem with 1.5.90 at first, so I updated to 1.5.91. The problem persisted, so I'm currently running 1.7.0. [12:02]
<mwmwmw> so, I have this snmp interface on a router. they changes some of the configuration of it. it was reporting at 1.544. now it's 2.048. As soon as hte network guy made this change, opennms stopped graphing the data... any idea as too why? [12:19]
<joed> Tis tooo fast [12:27]
<joed> He changed it from a T1 to an E1, from the looks of it. [12:28]
<_snd> since when is an e1 fast? [12:28]
<_snd> ;) [12:28]
<joed> Was that simply a bandwidth change? [12:28]
<joed> _snd: seldom, now ds3 starts getting there. [12:29]
<mwmwmw> joed, it was just configured wrong. it's an E1 line. [12:29]
<mwmwmw> so, I go into the smnpinteface table in the DB and correct the number... nothing is updated line. I'd prolly have to bounch the app... [12:30]
<joed> I wonder if you actually are collecting but previously collected aritrarily wild numbers? [12:30]
<joed> I'd move that rrd file to the side and see if letting it rebuild does something? [12:30]
<joed> Or do you have error messages around that collection? [12:31]
<mwmwmw> hmm would the Update SNMP refresh all the snmp valules? [12:34]
<mwmwmw> I need to scan the log files to see. [12:34]
<mwmwmw> the network guy ran the updates commands and re-scaned hte device. we'll see what happens in 20 minutes. then I'll start looking at log files and crap [12:35]

<mwmwmw> is there a feature request to have opennms re-scan the device when a configuration change happens on the router? [12:59]
<mwmwmw> that would be sweet. [12:59]
<fastjay> mwmwmw: that should be easy to do w/ opennms currently. [12:59]
<fastjay> i think.. you can just setup an automatoin to send out a rescan event when a configchange comes in [12:59]
<mwmwmw> it can sence the traps. how would you have it do the scan? [12:59]
